Sustainability:
A Corporate Journey Growing with Discipline

As Uğuras Kıymetlia Madenler, our understanding of sustainability is not limited to merely reducing environmental impact; it also encompasses increasing efficiency, internalizing the concept of a qualified bridge in public-private sector business regulation, and carrying our value chain into the future. This understanding has been reflected in all our processes and has systematically and consciously become a part of our corporate culture.

Process-Oriented Approach:
Total Productive Maintenance and
Collaborative Process Improvement Systems

In our operations, we base our work on the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodology, adopting an efficiency-focused approach that covers the entire workforce, from machinery to human resources. Within this framework:

Preventive Risk Controls and Audit Framework:
It functions as a systematic safety shield that includes warning and control mechanisms, preventing errors and defects before they even occur. This practice ensures not only quality but also safety and continuity.

On-Site Continuous Improvement and Optimization:
This approach focuses on reducing inefficiencies by optimization of resource utilization and waste minimization, streamlining workflows, and ensuring the most effective use of resources. It represents a core pillar of our continuous improvement philosophy. Through this operating model, we minimize errors while maximizing accountability and ownership across the organization. As a result, we build systems that are not only fit for today’s requirements but are also resilient and adaptable to the needs of tomorrow.

Our structure, operating with these methods, minimizes errors while maximizing the quality of responsibility. Thus, we are building a system that is ready not only for today’s needs but for tomorrow’s as well.

Sustainability Strengthened by Knowledge

By enhancing our corporate knowledge base every day, we integrate our sustainability efforts into the field:

We ensure the standardization of our processes with the
ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

We anticipate risks and use resources efficiently with our
Project Management Systems.

We develop our employees’ analytical thinking,
process optimization and problem-solving skills through
6 Sigma Green Belt Training.

Within this framework, sustainability is not just a matter of environment or energy; it is a culture of decision-making based on knowledge.

Guided by Common Values and Principles:
Little by Little, But Every Day

Under our common values and principles framework, sustainability is regarded as a disciplined and measurable progression—driven by continuous improvement and long-term value creation aiming to take one step further every day.

As Uğuras, we have integrated this understanding into our corporate culture with the principle of small but continuous development. Improvements, increased in dosage every day, have led us to a growth model nourished by permanent progress, not sudden leaps.

Our Goal in Sustainability:
A Resilient, Reliable, and Effective Future

For us, sustainability is not just a “social responsibility” heading; it is an integrated management system under the responsibility of every single department.

From our logistics processes to human resources, From data analysis to information security, we are establishing an operational corporate culture that carries the mark of sustainability at every step.

International Framework for Combating Climate Change and
Our Corporate Compliance Approach

Climate change is not merely an environmental concern; it represents a global risk that directly affects economic stability, supply chains, and social well-being. Addressing this risk requires an integrated approach encompassing international legal frameworks, constitutional obligations, and corporate responsibility principles.

As Uğuras Precious Metals, we address the challenge of climate change through its legal, institutional, and operational dimensions, and we conduct our activities in full alignment with applicable national and international regulations.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which was opened for signature at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1992, represents the first and most fundamental international initiative in the global fight against climate change. The Convention currently has 196 Parties, and Türkiye became a Party on 24 May 2004.

The UNFCCC is implemented through two principal instruments. The first is the Kyoto Protocol, which remained in force until 2020, and the second is the Paris Agreement, which has been implemented from 2020 onwards. Türkiye became a Party to the Kyoto Protocol, the first implementing agreement under the UNFCCC, in 2009.

The Paris Agreement was signed by Türkiye on 22 April 2016 at the High-Level Signature Ceremony held in New York and was subsequently approved by a Presidential Decree dated 7 October 2021, thereby entering into force under domestic law. The Agreement aims to keep the increase in global average temperature caused by anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, while pursuing efforts to limit the increase to 1.5°C.

In addition, the Agreement reaffirms the principle that countries should contribute to the fight against climate change in accordance with the concept of “common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities.”

The most distinctive feature that differentiates the Paris Agreement from the UNFCCC is the establishment of an inclusive framework that requires all Parties—without distinction between developed and developing countries—to contribute to global climate action.

In addition to international conventions, one of the most fundamental legal bases for climate and environmental protection is Article 56 of the Constitution of the Republic of Türkiye. This provision explicitly states that everyone has the right to live in a healthy and balanced environment, and that improving the environment, protecting environmental health, and preventing environmental pollution are the duties of both the State and its citizens.

This constitutional provision, enshrined in the 1982 Constitution, demonstrates that the principle of sustainability is recognized at the constitutional level. Uğuras Precious Metals structures its operations in line with both its international obligations and constitutional responsibilities, and systematically implements and maintains its corporate actions accordingly.

Pursuant to the Tax Procedure Law, the Turkish Commercial Code, and MASAK (Financial Crimes Investigation Board) regulations, our company is subject to statutory record-keeping and document retention obligations of five (5), ten (10), and eight (8) years, respectively. Taking these legal requirements into account, the principle of minimizing physical record consumption has been adopted. Accordingly, a high level of digitalization has been achieved in digital archiving and electronic document management, and digital transformation initiatives continue uninterrupted within the limits prescribed by applicable legislation.

Information Security and Green IT Approach

Within the scope of the ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management System, climate change is assessed as a significant external factor affecting the organizational context of our institution. In this framework:

Energy-efficient information technology infrastructures are prioritized, contributing to the reduction of our digital carbon footprint.

Climate-resilient IT infrastructure and robust data backup systems have been established to mitigate climate-related risks.

Paperless office practices are increasingly adopted to minimize paper consumption and support the conservation of natural resources.

Practices for Reducing Carbon Footprint

Measures have been implemented to reduce environmental impacts within the logistics processes associated with precious metals trading. In this context:

Route optimization is applied in logistics operations, resulting in tangible reductions in fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

In supply chain management, priority is given to working with business partners that comply with environmental standards and sustainability principles.

Waste management and recycling processes are effectively implemented across all operational areas, starting from office operations.

In line with global climate objectives and the European Green Deal alignment process, environmental performance is regularly monitored and continuously improved.

Uğuras Precious Metals operates in close integration with platforms that play an active role in setting international standards and providing sectoral guidance. In this context, the company regularly participates in international conferences organized by the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), which focus on 2030 sustainability objectives.

As Uğuras Precious Metals, we are fully aware of the impacts of climate change on the global economy and the financial system. In full compliance with international conventions, national legislation, and constitutional principles, we fulfill our environmental, digital, and corporate responsibilities and implement sustainability as an integral part of our operations.

Within this framework, we conduct our activities in cooperation with institutions and business partners that are accredited by and fully aligned with the standards of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA). All such institutions structure their operational processes in accordance with principles of sustainability, environmental responsibility, and the fight against climate change, and our company operates as an integral part of this integrated ecosystem.

In the areas of zero-waste practices, environmental impact reduction, and climate change mitigation, accredited, compliant, and auditable processes have been established and are effectively implemented in line with both national legislation and international standards. Through this holistic approach, we not only ensure compliance with our existing obligations but also strengthen our corporate resilience and international credibility.
